I need your help, internet detectives!
My girlfriend recently noticed this on a blog she follows. If you look closely at the photo, it looks like some of my work hanging in this person’s apartment! At first I thought it might be one of the big stretched canvas prints from my society6 shop, but upon closer inspection I’m not so sure. And after checking my records, I realized I haven’t actually sold any of the big stretched canvas prints of this particular image.
It looks like it’s a print of my work that has been altered or, more likely, is a rip-off of my work. The text at the top appears to be painted over or something and the mustaches aren’t quite the same as my original (the first image in this set is the original version that I drew).
I thought about trying to contact the person who took these photos of their apartment, but the photos seem to be part of some kind of contest and the website doesn’t have any contact info listed for whoever entered them.
Does anyone have any idea if this is a knock-off that’s being sold somewhere? If so, PLEASE let me know either by sending a message to my ask box or emailing me directly. If it turns out this is just someone who bought one of my prints and then altered it themselves: that’s totally fine! But if someone out there is ripping me off and selling prints of my drawings with slight changes, I’d like to try to put an end to that.
EDIT: I think I’ve got a lead. Thanks everyone!
EDIT AGAIN: Problem solved! Thankfully, this is not a print or painting that was sold anywhere.
