Do you make a living out of illustrations? Also did you have to finish any form of school or training? I have a plan to abandon school, and go towards the more cliche path of following my dreams. Any advice?

Drawing illustrations and comics is my only source of income, so yes. And yeah, I did finish college (I was an illustration major).

Having a degree hasn’t helped me at all but the skills I picked up in college definitely have. As an illustrator/cartoonist, nobody really cares that I have a degree. But they do care that I can draw fun, interesting things. I wouldn’t be as good as I am at drawing fun and interesting things if I hadn’t spent four years in school, drawing every single day and getting critiques, advice, guidance from professors and peers.
