I quickly drew this today for a BUG ZINE that my buddy and my brother are putting together.
I’ve had this image in my head for a while now. I’ve been wanting to do a series of little mosquito drawings over actual photos of naked butts and other hilarious body parts. Unfortunately I don’t have any naked butts laying around that I can photograph.

Anonymous asked: Your blog has disappeared from the Tumblr Spotlight directory, did you remove yourself?? Why? :(

I’m not really sure what that is or how to find it or how I would have removed myself from it!

Anonymous asked: Hi Phil, how long have you been illustrating and how old are you?

I’m 5,000 years old but I’ve only been an illustrator for 400 years or so.

lusinemeoww replied to your post: Hey. Does Phil McAndrew actually run this blog?

Hello! Just wondering how your work looks in the beginning stages.. your first sketches.

I wrote about my process a while back, right over here.

lusinemeoww asked: Hey. Does Phil McAndrew actually run this blog?

I teamed up with the superb Daniel Elkin to review Phil McAndrew’s excellent book Crying in Front of Your Dog. We used the book as an opportunity to discuss the evolution of the form of comics as well as my theory that McAndrew’s knack for making the reader an active participant in his comics kind of makes him the Marina Abramovic of comix. We also both loved the book.

This was a pretty amazing TCAF debut, go get it from wherever it is being sold!

You can now get Lauren Barnett and Nathan Bulmer’s The Hic & Hoc Illustrated Journal of Humor Volume One: The United States at the Hic & Hoc store!
Do it before you second-guess yourself and spend the money on something sensible.

I’ve read this book and some of the comics in there are so funny that I cried. I’ve got a comic in there too. You should snatch this baby up!

Real Talk: Phil McAndrew's 'Crying in Front of Your Dog and Other Stories' Mixes the Surreal with the Tranquil, Also Mustaches @ Comics Bulletin -

“It’s as if McAndrew is telling me intensely human stories, but he tells them by blowing hot air through enormous wax-lips made of the skin of Antonin Artaud, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Groucho Marx (if you can make wax out of skin), and is accompanied by the music of Spike Jones and Frank Zappa.”
